It’s been almost a year now, and the first of Peter F Hamiltons new trilogy, The Void Trilogy is hitting the shelves. With a release date of August 3rd, I was surprised to see that Amazon have dispatched a copy to me already. Due to arrive on the 31st August. I really meant to re-read the Commonwealth Saga before this was published, but that didn’t happen. Instead of being almost a 1000 pages per book, he’s trying to keep it down to a more manageable ~650 pages per book. The preliminary reviews say this is a good thing, so it’ll be interesting to see how it goes.

Met up with Sandy and Ellen at The Cave, before heading out to a housewarming party the other day. Left around 1ish, as we were knackered, but Sandy and Ellen stayed to continue their night of partying

For many years we’ve had an AC 3000ME. My dad bought it in 1985, and around 1995 (not quite sure, it was that long ago) it was put into the Motoring Heritage Musuem in Alexandria, as part of their Scottish collection. Times have changed, and unfortunately the museum had to close. Consequently, the AC which has barely turned a wheel in 10 years was delivered out to my parents house whereupon Gordon, Willie and I set about making it go again. Continue Reading »

Ok people…
For a while now I’ve used Gallery2 - ever since it came out actually. Before then, I used Gallery1. You can see the pattern. I now have 17GB of files and am starting to feel the pinch.
Someone sell the Flickr idea to me. Is it better than Gallery2, worse? Pros, cons? It’s gotten to the stage that I am no longer uploading photographs to the website due to the space requirements. Will Flickr save my day?

Recently, VMWare Server and Workstation both seem to be broken on Debian Testing and Unstable. The vmware-config.pl script will rebuild your vmnet and vmmon kernel modules, but insmod will segfault when inserting the modules. This is related to an incompatible modutils version. A simple fix is available - open up vmware-config.pl in a text editor and change ‘insmod’ to ‘/sbin/insmod’. This is only required in two places, after which the build script will run just fine.

This evening, I have been mostly playing with Upside Down Ternet. Having the transparent proxy preconfigured makes it a lot easier too…
Well, not all of this evening. Watched Supersize Me with Ellen earlier. Scary film, and I’m about to go out and put the new chain onto my bike and start exercising.
