I had the misfortune to use a Cardpoint cash machine today, inadvertently I hasten to add. Was in a taxi on the way to Maries with Charlotte, and I got out to get some money to pay the guy. Standing around, waiting for the user in front to finish faffing about for what felt like an eternity, I stepped up to use the machine. Progress was slow…. I thought the new Bank of Scotland machines were slow – those are quite positively speedway racers compared to the Cardpoint machines. After much pressing of buttons, waiting for menus, pressing more options, I finally got to take cash out. I had to wait another minute or so before the thing had the nerve to tell me that it wanted £1.50 before it would allow me to get my £20. By this point Charlotte was getting out the taxi, as the taxi driver had started the stationary meter running, and advised her that it would be faster if she walked. So not only did it cost me money just to _get_ my money, but it cost me money in stationary taxi fees. What a bloody rip-off. I cannot for the life of me imagine how companies get away with this kind of thing. Cardpoint Services – con-artists of the future, and present day theives.
