For the past two weeks, Jill & I have been sorting out the physical side of moving Absolute Studios from one building to another a few miles away. Life has been completely hectic, but it’s allowed us to start with a completely custom designed building, proper infrastructure, and a decent set of air conditioning machines. I’ve had one day off in the past 3 weeks, and many many late nights. Georgia and Grant have been helping us move by lugging stuff into and out of the large van we bought for the purpose, and the last loads will be done tomorrow. I have a renderfarm to rebuild, a server room to relocate (as the current one is temporary whilst the new one gets the wall removed to fit the aircon kit), and the restructuring of everything else to contend with. We’re on a new network, new subnet, new switching core – everything is new bar the actual desks, workstations and a few servers.
Complete madness, but damned good experience 🙂
