The O2 Lives!
For a while now, my SGI O2 has languished in the cupboard after being diagnosed with an unknown fault. I decided to dig it out again and have a quick look at it. Powering it up seemed successful, and I got the audio chime but no display. A quick bit of googling suggested that when no keyboard is attached, it will automagically redirect all output to the serial console. Connecting a standard ps2 keyboard cured all my woes 
Next task will be to get the hard drive out and connected to another machine so I can set the root password to something I know.

Any sysadmin with experience of Sun boxes could have told you that one.
