Got up early today (not a good thing considering I was out last night), and vanished off to help Lucy move flat from Ibrox to Charing Cross. Took the Land Rover and trailer, which was a good thing(tm) as it took 4 journeys to finally get everything across. Extremely busy, extremely tired, but there was a good movie and cheese toastie for after it

Went to work, went to flat, went home, went out to Jens leaving do at Locomotiv. Was a good night out, quite sad to see her go back to Australia. It’s been wonderful working with her, and I’ll miss her a lot.

Gordon came round today to help me with the BMW rear spring. With the aid of some diagrams from the wonderful BMW E30 Network it was quickly decided that a trip to Halfords was in order. On the other hand, the assistant at Halfords advised me that _one_ rear spring for the BMW would be £53… No chance matey, I can get it for £25 from GSF or Euro Car Parts.
Quick trip back, and work began on the Citroen, to replace some fuel hose, tidy up the carb gasket, replace the engine oil and change the CV boot. I mainly just hung around and burnt flammable liquids, which was fun

Woke up yesterday morning to find that I had no net connection. I automatically put this down to the fact that I hadn’t paid NTL in 4 months, so thought it best that I paid them there and then. Duly went through their automated payment system, and was told it would take 48 hours to process. Went out for the day, and return home just after midnight to find that it was all working again…
This can mean one of two things. Either NTL processed my payment rather quickly and efficiently and turned me back on that day, or that it was actually an unscheduled service interruption that was fixed the same day, and NTL are still blissfully unaware that I use their 512k cable broadband service for £9.50 a month and consequently never disconnected me intentionally.
I know which option my money is on…

For the past few months I’ve been considering upgrading my workstation at home. It’s an aging AMD 550 with 384Mb RAM and a 30Gb 7.2kRPM HD scattered with bad blocks from about 4 years ago. As luck would have it, the monitor died last week, and the hard drive starting chucking out constant errors and corrupting data (thankfully I’d just moved all the data off of it onto the main fileserver). So, I’m going to have to bite the bullet. I’m now taking recommendations as to what would be a good mid-range workstation system…

I was supposed to be out in town with Mark, Ellen, Lucy and some others from work, but I’m too tired
I also have to get up at 8am tomorrow, and 6am on Sunday, so I really shouldn’t skimp on the amount of sleep I get
Sorry folks.

Went to view a flat in Partick today. Had to borrow £2 off Naomi for the underground ticket, as I forgot to bring money to work with me :-p As I was wandering to the entrance of the underground, a random bloke stopped me and offered me his discovery ticket (all day travel) for free, since he no longer needed it. How decent
Saw around the flat, got the underground to Partick, and looked for someone else to hand the ticket to, to no avail
Maybe next time…
